Fall 1996, Grand Forks, ND is the setting in which I entered the world. It is a barren and flat place, dominated by agriculture. 19 years on (and many winters playing hockey) I completed the move to Duluth, MN, enrolling at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
As a Bulldog, I learned and studied storytelling, journalism, and photography. In my junior year I won the Larry Oakes memorial scholarship, UMD’s top journalism scholarship. After finishing my B.A. in Journalism, I felt the need to move on to higher ground.
I am now the Editor of the Teton Valley News in Driggs, ID. I view my role as that of a player-coach, reporting on a varitey of topics including buisness, government, the outdoors, arts, and sports while organizing each week’s content and sending it off to print. In 2021 I took home both Rookie of the Year (Weekly) and Sports Prep Story of the Year (Weekly) at the Idaho Press Club awards.
Outside of the office my passions lie in snowboarding and mountian biking in the impressive Teton Range of western Wyoming.
